heave ho where to go?

heave ho where to go? OMG you must be wondering what on earth i am talking about. well viewers i know you are probably as devastated as me after last weeks must win game. i thought i could deal with it. but alas i am ashamed to say i really sunk to the depths. shame, shame, shame on me for carrying on like a pork shop while son number two just watched in horror wondering if i was actually his real mother, hee, hee. i shouldn't laugh but friggin footballs this season is one big roller coaster ride. i don't know whether to be terrified or thrilled and alas i obviously didn't cope with things as well as i thought. five tim tams later, ( no make that six or was it seven, eight or nine? hee, hee) and other assortments of chocolates that were freely available at our special school lunch had me in zombie mode. mindless eating, taking solace in  the comfort of junk that was sending my blood sugar levels to a new dangerous high. and then i remembered yes we lost...yes we lost a game that would have, could have given us a much firmer foothold. but no, now we are on porous ground and you are probably wondering what the heck i am on about. well basically that means the ground is far more susceptible to give way, OK end of story.
so here i am ready to make amends. yes viewers here to make it up to son number two for my ridiculous football behaviour. what is wrong with me? passion folks it is simply red hot passion for a game i love and a team that has become part of my DNA. so today i am flying out with son number two in tow to take him to the MCG to watch the dockers take on the pies. this is an early birthday present for son number two who is about to enter his teenage years and who has never been to the MCG. so i am gonna suck up last weeks loss and even watch the team that nipped the bud of finals before it even had a chance to bloom. yep folks i am actually going back to the G to watch the dockers but more importantly hope they give the pies the old heave ho to bring a little more joy to someone who is as passionate about his team as i am mine. do i get a nomination for mother of the year? lol.
crows won as i suspected, tipped them by 23, the rest of the round we have gone, freo, richmond, GWS, hawks and cats. my theme for this week is...rejuvenation or maybe it should be to recompose myself. until the next round stay cozy and warm folks coz this weather has been sending my gas bill to  i suspect to an all, time high .

treading water just below the surface...are we now officially sinking?

i can't repeat what i said during the course of my lounge room supporting viewers otherwise my blog would most likely be removed. OMFG ( oh my frigging footballs) thanks freo for choosing our game to make a stand, nothing like two wins in a row to give yourselves a bit of confidence. still it won't make a huge difference to your season other than now stopping you from sinking to the bottom. the freo players stood up, particularly the experienced players when it counted. when you are close you are in with a chance, you get a sniff of the winning breeze and back yourselves in to win when you have nothing to lose. not the worst game of the season but seriously what more motivation do you need guys when your season is on the line? i was really impressed with your effort the past few weeks even though losing hurts big time, but yesterday there was no desperation. yesterday too few stood up when it mattered. yesterday it was wingard's 100th game and he should have been honoured with a win. yesterday this loss means our season is hanging by a tenuous thread. but in all honesty i am not that optimistic that we will even make it. i actually don't expect us too not because i am being negative but more so because i am being a realist.  (although my fantasy would be for nothing less than a miraculous recovery to pinch a finals berth) regardless of my zealous passion my commitment to the season has been to attempt to stay in the present and forget about what ifs. my thinking has been to take it one game at a time and so should the team. not only that but they should be playing each game as it counts because guess what? it does. and so when the tail end of the season arrives and we are eclipsed from the eight (should that be the case, more likely than not) then the responsibility lays at the players feet or should i say their boots. would rather no finals berth than being smashed. all we ask is for effort, fullstop. so sink or swim guys it is up to you...
i have to say viewers i always find the freo/port games a tad stressful. why may you ask? well because son number two is an avid freo supporter who ditched his port guernsey in favour of the freo one. yes i know, how could that be so? well it is and i have to say he was finding this season rather stressful himself which is not surprising considering their 10-0 start. but a win for your team is a win and brings joy to the fans. lyons by the looks of it has done the right thing finally by injecting the side with youth who are full of enthusiasm because all they want to do is play and that folks is where you start. as far as port goes yes we are missing players but we are not the only side. teams like the hawks find ways to win just when you think they are done and dusted. narrow losses and games that should have been won ( think carlton) are what will come back to haunt us. and then it will be be if,if,if. if only we didn't have injuries...if only we could play like 2014...if only. well it is time to flush if only down the drain because it actually doesn't count for anything!!! we are not 2014, get over it and move on. there is enough talent in the side but that doesn't count for much if it doesn't gel and play as a team. look at all the teams that have already improved this season. not much has changed a lot in terms of personnel, yes perhaps a few new names so what does that tell us?
perhaps mental toughness and attitude is what gets you over the line in the end. time to toughen up guys and time for fans to take their rose coloured glasses off. time to finish off the season to the best of your ability, one game at a time until the very last round, then we shall see who is in it to win it. impressive win by cats, hawks are building again at the right time. north i think might fall by the wayside. dogs and gws could be pipped at the post by lack of enough finals experience, although the dogs have some high quality players returning to bolster their stocks. west coast are over rated and i am doubtful without nic natanui they will cause much damage. crows are the dark horse bolting towards the finals with a relatively winnable run home, although i would like nothing better for them to falter, hee, hee, sorry crows buddies but you know how i feel. which brings me to my next point. for some of you it must be nice sitting on top of the mountain with a pleasant view. cheap shots, go for your life but if you tumble and fall i won't be lending a helping hand to help you up. i will serve you a piece of humble pie, no make that i will shove it down your throat, lol.
PS thanks to my brother in law for tipping cats for me as moi forgot to put in her tips. at his stage i am one off the lead. i should have listened to son number two and picked freo but of course we weren't expecting that were we?
until the next game,

nipped not mauled but it still hurts...

friggin footballs viewers was that a game or was that a game? WAH WAH WAH...heartbroken, poor me and every other power fan...WAH WAH WAH...i am almost inconsolable. perhaps i shouldn't have bought so many things in melbourne. WAH WAH WAH...OMG my bank account! perhaps i should have visited the doggies headquarters instead while i was there and delivered a laxative pie. drats! drats! drats! so close yet so far away from the four points. still i thought we were best in show and took it up to the young pups with our makeshift side. all i can say if a few things go our way ( not meaning to invoke the footy gods) well then who knows what could happen? yes who knows what could happen as i begin to see that some of the wheels are starting to fall off for a few other sides, condolences rival supporters that is outta my control and i wish you no harm. OK well maybe a few of you, hee,hee..
but it still sucks though doesn't it? if only, if only, if only...3 winnable games, 12 points down the drain. are we finally floating out to sea too far away from the finals shore? or will a favourable tide wash us up where we will recover and make that one last dash for finals glory? i say it is still possible but a lot of that will depend on port just finding that last touch of finesse to finish off teams when it really matters and counts. and a lot of that will also depend on what the other sides decide to do. (BTW thanks saints you certainly did port a big favour) i don't think many have given us much of a chance for most of the season so far. but seriously we are probably the only side just outside the eight who are capable of pinching a finals berth. and i for one am looking forward to the return of schulzy and white lightning. will they make it before seasons end to bolster our stocks? i guess we will have to wait and see folks.
but OMG back to the game. such tenacity, such ferocity, such inability to make it count in the second quarter when we had most of the play...add triple drats to that! such inaccuracy. why did you miss boaky? (boo hoo) how many times have you heard that one folks? but such effort, even though it may have gone unrewarded the effort and desire was there. krak's mark was awesome and man bun's last goal that kept us within a whisker... yet sadly time was a thief and robbed us of the game. still don't you just hate an honourable loss? i guess i can't say much more except that i for one personally set a new decibel record. i believe that was my best screaming/yelling/shouting/hurling insults at the umpire effort this season. i think i just might award myself three votes. so until the next yelling/screaming/shouting oops i mean supporting opportunity keep calm and keep your guchas ( undies) on. over and out.

oops did i miss a week? BTW i won the gold in the shopping olympics!!!

look who won the shopping olympics!!!
hello viewers a thousand apologies no make that a million apologies for skipping a post, especially to my two loyal followers which includes me! lol. and to all those secret viewers who haven't joined my blog yet to catapult me into female footy writing fame. get off ya bums and join!!!
so where have i been and where i am i up to? OK OK i know you are just dying to know. tipped port to beat melbourne; my theme for that week was exorcism...drive those demons outta alice and that they did. i have been tweeting hammer a new theme for each round and so far two outta two...it must be working to inspire him and the boys to greater heights. last week was  swooping...swoop first and render the pies flightless!!! but i think my theme was shop first and pay later. OMG viewers and that i did along with my lady army associates. if shopping was an olympic sport then i would be playing for australia and standing on the podium with my gold medal, hee, hee. ( OK back to demons game) i was reasonably confident but didn't think it would be an easy game considering melbourne have been on the improve. and FFS ( for footys sake) why wouldn't they be after all those picks and securing paul roos service? i watched the first quarter at home then went to lovies and watched it until half time. don't you hate the pressure folks? seriously that game if we had lost you may as well have kissed any hope of a finals appearance ta ta. by the third we were up by 17 points,  i was having a flashback to that carlton loss, i panicked and employed the gardening distraction method or alternatively rake up a shit pile of leaves, wait 30 mins and then go back inside to face the music.  well you can imagine my delight  when i peeked tentatively around the corner and saw the score. major excitement and relief. i got one minute viewing time which bloody serves me right. i have been meaning to get to the replay thanks to little sista's foxtel on demand but i confess i just haven't got to it. so yes demons were exorcised and so it was on to a new theme for round 12. and i must say i was incredibly optimistic and was feeling that win on the horizon.
swoop and render pies flightless translated to swoop and grab that bargain before anybody else does. my extra training had paid off and sorry madam but i just had to have that coat i hope i didn't injure you too severely with my tackle, lol. by the time we landed in melbourne town viewers and had made our way via taxi to our hotel we were all out in record time and at the shops before the next bounce. what can i say? 40% off. they must have known us radeladies were hot on the trail. all in all an awesome day, ten out of ten for shopping endurance i say and 10/10 for melbourne coffee. no better way to break a self imposed coffee detox then to have one in melbourne town, woo hoo. my only gripe viewers is that trying to get into a recommended eating establishment well is a sport in itself. don't get the no bookings. so far i have yet to sit at a chin chin table. supernormal ( one of my faves) was also outta the question along with coda, oter, movida 1 and 2...meatballs managed to get us at the bar but we thanked them and made our merry way off along the lane in search of something else. voila! we ended up at yak... italian kitchen. a 30 min wait, a refreshing bilpin cider later and we were seated in a rather pleasant environment that gave one space to sit, breathe and talk. some shared entrees...chargrilled wild mushrooms, chargrilled baby calamari both delicious. i followed that with handmade taglioni with braised gippsland rabbit, ligurian olives, pancetta, white wine and thyme and yes i can definitely recommend that. our dining experience was rather pleasant, friendly service, no complaints regarding the food and for a saturday night (which i later find out you can book at some establishments) the culinary gods were on our side just as the footy and shopping gods were too. can't get more awesome than that!!!
a marvellous saturday done and dusted was followed with a breakfast at southbank on the river. coffee was great, breakfast could have been but was let down by the cold smashed avocado. can you believe it viewers? come on really? smashed avocado should not be prepared and put in the fridge. when you slap it on top of toasted sourdough with a poached egg, well you have certainly committed a culinary crime. it could have been so much better...wah wah wah. but what got better was my second wave of shopping which netted the boys shorts for rowing, shoes for school and an assortment of other things for moi. that expedition was finished off with our trip to the G which was ever so sweet. first two goals and i momentarily thought mm...the pies are here to play. mm, this could be tough. but after that folks it was a joy to watch the demolition and some percentage finally being added to the ladder. a confidence boosting win and what can you say about the magic of robbie gray? so smart, replay that handball under pressure again and again folks. just loved it. love being there with some of my gorgeous girlfriends who are just as passionate about footy and shopping as i am, hee, hee. we cheered, we were loud and proud sitting with fellow supporters and basking in the feel good afterglow of a convincing win. then on to the hunt for food and drink before organising ourselves into departure for home sweet home.
no dedicated ruckman and a makeshift team on the smaller side coupled with guts and a desire to win and you have port holding their heads up high looking upon the horizon of the final eight. but it is going to take more than the demolition of the pies for the comp to take notice folks. i say bring out the power pedigree this round and be best on show and send those mutts home! and guess what viewers? that is my theme for this week. thank god it's friday and thank goodness we will be able to get to the footy tomorrow. all i ask is that the weather gods keep any buckets of rain for sunday so that the lady army can hold down their strategic position. so come on power fans another must win game for the boys. lets make it a hostile crowd, let's turn it into dog obedience school, let us all be the dog whisperers!!! hee, hee. power on and get down to adelaide oval.

power radeladies!!!
