look who won the shopping olympics!!! |
so where have i been and where i am i up to? OK OK i know you are just dying to know. tipped port to beat melbourne; my theme for that week was exorcism...drive those demons outta alice and that they did. i have been tweeting hammer a new theme for each round and so far two outta two...it must be working to inspire him and the boys to greater heights. last week was swooping...swoop first and render the pies flightless!!! but i think my theme was shop first and pay later. OMG viewers and that i did along with my lady army associates. if shopping was an olympic sport then i would be playing for australia and standing on the podium with my gold medal, hee, hee. ( OK back to demons game) i was reasonably confident but didn't think it would be an easy game considering melbourne have been on the improve. and FFS ( for footys sake) why wouldn't they be after all those picks and securing paul roos service? i watched the first quarter at home then went to lovies and watched it until half time. don't you hate the pressure folks? seriously that game if we had lost you may as well have kissed any hope of a finals appearance ta ta. by the third we were up by 17 points, i was having a flashback to that carlton loss, i panicked and employed the gardening distraction method or alternatively rake up a shit pile of leaves, wait 30 mins and then go back inside to face the music. well you can imagine my delight when i peeked tentatively around the corner and saw the score. major excitement and relief. i got one minute viewing time which bloody serves me right. i have been meaning to get to the replay thanks to little sista's foxtel on demand but i confess i just haven't got to it. so yes demons were exorcised and so it was on to a new theme for round 12. and i must say i was incredibly optimistic and was feeling that win on the horizon.
swoop and render pies flightless translated to swoop and grab that bargain before anybody else does. my extra training had paid off and sorry madam but i just had to have that coat i hope i didn't injure you too severely with my tackle, lol. by the time we landed in melbourne town viewers and had made our way via taxi to our hotel we were all out in record time and at the shops before the next bounce. what can i say? 40% off. they must have known us radeladies were hot on the trail. all in all an awesome day, ten out of ten for shopping endurance i say and 10/10 for melbourne coffee. no better way to break a self imposed coffee detox then to have one in melbourne town, woo hoo. my only gripe viewers is that trying to get into a recommended eating establishment well is a sport in itself. don't get the no bookings. so far i have yet to sit at a chin chin table. supernormal ( one of my faves) was also outta the question along with coda, oter, movida 1 and 2...meatballs managed to get us at the bar but we thanked them and made our merry way off along the lane in search of something else. voila! we ended up at yak... italian kitchen. a 30 min wait, a refreshing bilpin cider later and we were seated in a rather pleasant environment that gave one space to sit, breathe and talk. some shared entrees...chargrilled wild mushrooms, chargrilled baby calamari both delicious. i followed that with handmade taglioni with braised gippsland rabbit, ligurian olives, pancetta, white wine and thyme and yes i can definitely recommend that. our dining experience was rather pleasant, friendly service, no complaints regarding the food and for a saturday night (which i later find out you can book at some establishments) the culinary gods were on our side just as the footy and shopping gods were too. can't get more awesome than that!!!
a marvellous saturday done and dusted was followed with a breakfast at southbank on the river. coffee was great, breakfast could have been but was let down by the cold smashed avocado. can you believe it viewers? come on really? smashed avocado should not be prepared and put in the fridge. when you slap it on top of toasted sourdough with a poached egg, well you have certainly committed a culinary crime. it could have been so much better...wah wah wah. but what got better was my second wave of shopping which netted the boys shorts for rowing, shoes for school and an assortment of other things for moi. that expedition was finished off with our trip to the G which was ever so sweet. first two goals and i momentarily thought mm...the pies are here to play. mm, this could be tough. but after that folks it was a joy to watch the demolition and some percentage finally being added to the ladder. a confidence boosting win and what can you say about the magic of robbie gray? so smart, replay that handball under pressure again and again folks. just loved it. love being there with some of my gorgeous girlfriends who are just as passionate about footy and shopping as i am, hee, hee. we cheered, we were loud and proud sitting with fellow supporters and basking in the feel good afterglow of a convincing win. then on to the hunt for food and drink before organising ourselves into departure for home sweet home.
no dedicated ruckman and a makeshift team on the smaller side coupled with guts and a desire to win and you have port holding their heads up high looking upon the horizon of the final eight. but it is going to take more than the demolition of the pies for the comp to take notice folks. i say bring out the power pedigree this round and be best on show and send those mutts home! and guess what viewers? that is my theme for this week. thank god it's friday and thank goodness we will be able to get to the footy tomorrow. all i ask is that the weather gods keep any buckets of rain for sunday so that the lady army can hold down their strategic position. so come on power fans another must win game for the boys. lets make it a hostile crowd, let's turn it into dog obedience school, let us all be the dog whisperers!!! hee, hee. power on and get down to adelaide oval.
love FFFand F XXX
power radeladies!!! |
