mothers day curse broken and the accidental ruckman...

www.quickmeme.com

allelujah, makja boza, thank the footy gods the mothers day curse did not take hold. yes viewers i began my mothers day on the right foot...a splendidly delish breakfast at the new local on port road next to the entertainment centre. (i highly recommend) it has been refurbished from the old suzy wongs slash lucky cat into a suburban delight. great coffee, great service, tasty food, unpretentious service and the interior simply pleasant showcasing homegrown art...btw that is pretty damn good too and is for sale.
so confess, come on own up...were you wondering what port were going to dish up? personally i found myself in a place thinking OMG they have to rise to the challenge after last years embarrassment. they have to avenge last years mothers day loss (which i can tell you didn't go down well with us power mamma's, no sirree, no friggin way) they have to win convincingly to shut up the critics right? after all it is only brisbane? but after all it is only brisbane almost beat sydney so i certainly wasn't going to tempt footy fate with being too smug and getting ahead of myself. i knew they could win but what the eventual outcome would be i had no idea coz i forgot to do my chakra clearing and put my crystals out under the last full moon, hee, hee.
well for one, the weather seemed like it didn't feel like granting us any concessions. rain, drizzly rain led me to take my lady army organizational pack which consisted of... my roll of ultra paper towels, plastic ponchos, money for coffee and a couple of organic apples thrown in for good measure ( i had already eaten a whole bag of chips to myself...yes shame on me but they were good, besides the diet police were hot on my trail!!!) no problem saving seats folks, sunday late afternoon fixture, mothers day well one could be forgiven for not turning up, can they? overall 32,000 plus respectable enough for a cold, drizzly sunday afternoon.
and lo and behold just as i suspected jacko was thrown into the ruck. i had been wondering all week whether he would actually get back in but by the end of the game it revealed itself to be a pretty smart move. who needs a hitout when you can gather your own ball, claim 25 disposals, 15 handballs, 10 kicks, 2 marks and 6 tackles, a seriously damn good effort with more run and grunt. the accidental ruckman has been born folks so let us rejoice!!! apart from the first quarter and come on admit it you couch watchers, you were probably having a mini meltdown and screaming at the tv. but moi i was surprisingly calm. getting it together in the second port drew from its reserves of desire worked hard and kept on keeping on. a seven goal four quarter to one two began to speak to the crowd. were we excited? you bet we were. were the power mamma's delighted? you bet we were and secretly i was trying to contain myself as i knew a possible thumping was just beyond the footy horizon. and that certainly was going to beat a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers on mothers day anytime folks. hip hip hooray and that it did continue with a blitz in the last quarter and another seven goal haul for port to stamp its authority on the game. a convincing and well deserved victory which should at least keep the media critics silenced. i believe what port supposedly lacks in depth has now been made up by flexibility. impeys pace in the forward line a bonus, jackos presence in the ruck deceiving, the backline gelling and of course a pittard clanger of old although noticed easily forgiven. so now we have to back it up with a third win in a row against carlton viewers. but like the lions game i won't be taking them lightly either considering their form has been reasonably respectable...confidence breeds belief.
however, i will state this. it is time to avenge last years loss which kept us out of the finals and a chance to do some damage. i will also say this... if i had the opportunity during that disgraceful display of umpiring i would have found blue betty and drove her onto the field myself and run over that umpire who called play on and then decided to give the player another kick at goal because he missed. i absolutely hated that game folks and i should know because i was there and in the end had to console kochie myself ( feel free to go back to last years blog entry). for those who are wondering who blue betty is, she is the carlton hovercraft, yep your read right, OMG a friggin hovercraft, LOL!!! i will also say that if the wizard mr robbie gray returns for this match then i give him full permission to carve the carton side up for revenge. let us see him break the records and get the justice he deserves after that horrible sling tackle by gibbs. i better stop now before some undesirable words creep in and my blog becomes banned...for footys sake can't have that happening, now can we? hee, hee.
so a perfect end to my mothers day folks and also to my tipping...8/9 and the coles voucher goes to me this week which will feed my teenagers for about five mins. i hope you enjoyed the game (especially power mums) as much as i did. awesome to see wolfman dazzling us with the ability we know he possesses, to watch big bad charlie bag a handful and to see little elvis ( wingard) back on the field where he belongs. and of course to watch everyone of them playing team football and showing us their power to turn things around. lets keep the voltage running boys...#weplayasone.
love FFandF XXX
