from the soup kitchen...smoked hock, lentil and veggie soup
1 smoked hock ( about 1kg )
4 carrots diced,
1 smoked hock ( about 1kg )

2 stalks of celery diced
1 large brown onion diced and 3 cloves of crushed garlic
2x 400gms tins of cherry tomatoes ( or just used crushed tomatoes if you can't find cherry ones, i get mine from coles)
1 bottle of tomato pasata ( 700ml)
1 cup of dry green lentils
2 litres of water,

2 tspns of vegeta
3 tbspns of olive oil
fry onion, garlic and vegeta in olive oil, add carrots, celery and lentils, saute and then add smoked hock, 2 litres of water, the tomatoes, pasata and bring to boil, simmer for 2 hours, remove hock, strip meat, add back to soup, season if necessary and add a chopped handful of parsley, serve with warm crusty buttered bread...
