BIG GAME...BIG FORWARD LINE...who are you tipping folks???

another thursday night game. i barely have time to think about my tips but have relegated that job to enthusiastic son number two. this week he has tipped...SWANS by 12, PIES, PORT, CARLTON, SUNS, HAWKS, FREO and the ROOS.      tonight i had to put in tips for lovie and myself and so i got a first hand look at her tipping sheet viewers. so if you want to place your trust in lovie well then go cats and eagles as they are the two which make the point of difference between our tips. i am not sure about the swans. i know it is a home game but i still believe the cats are the better skilled side. however, i have just remembered no stevie j which means no xfactor...mm, well we will just have to wait and see. definitely the match of this round. huge forward line, some big guns but will they deliver? i for one am looking forward to watching it from my couch. and maybe i will eat some cake too.
goodnight folks,

it's official i have my first follower!!! WOO HOO!!!

it is official viewers i have my first follower. (congratulations to SASHIMI SUEDE) it took me all this time to work out how to make my blog accessible to you once again. so jump on board and come for a ride into the world of footy, female, fabulous and funny(well i think i am) among other things...

recover, replay, oh dear...round 10

sitting atop mt. everest...loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

well, well, well am still recovering from saturday nights clash. sunday i barely had a voice. i lay part of the blame on the fact that our usual seats were stolen...OMG how very dare they!!! was not happy jan because we had to ascend into the grandstand. i felt like i was sitting atop mt everest. yes you get a birdseye view but personally i just could not stand it. it sent my libran scales outta whack and was a complete distraction. in the end my fellow lady army supporter managed to get her hubby to relinquish his fancy adelaide oval tickets and we descended back down to where the action was. two other lady army members ended up standing near the interchange and by all accounts gotta a great view and some snaps of ken and the boys. i have vowed for this to never happen again. so lady army listen carefully...from now on with mega clashes we must get to the game earlier regardless. and buzzinator don't you dare lose that lucky rock!!! ok let me put that in the minutes.
well what can i say? first goal to wingard and off to a flying start it was awesome. hard going at the footy, just keeping the pressure on. thought we were held pretty well in the second quarter and then that comeback in the third. still it was a bloody decent effort. we did not relinquish the lead all night and finished the fourth quarter just 14 points up when it looked like the beginnings of a blow out. not happy with some of those soft frees as well as a few that could have been paid our way.
and of course i was expecting the barrage of...big deal you played an under manned side. and perhaps the hawks were not at full strength but don't forget we were also missing jonas and not playing our best either. a competitive side like hawthorn do not dwell and sit at the top for all that time if they do not have depth in their list. and yes mr.clarkson you are probably correct in saying that we are not unbeatable. however, when everyone of those players are in sync our team is going to be a hard team to beat. we are the team of the future built upon a foundation of character, hard work and unity. right now i am full of admiration for the extraordianry turn around but am keeping a lid on it. we are almost at the half way mark viewers and a lot can happen in the next few months. let me just say footy gods i would like you to grant us the favour of keeping our side fit and injury free. amen.
our luck continued with lovie and son number two being escorted home by friends taxi which left us free to enjoy the celebrations in the magarey room. by the time we had finished and walked to the train station to catch our free ride home it was past midnight. i returned exhausted and with very little voice left. watching the replay the next day i can completely understand why. man that crowd was deafening. my throat is still somehwat tender and it is monday night. and to tipping OMG wendy bateman you failed epically this week, sorry to have to put it that way but i did rather well. thanks to son number two for giving me that carlton tip. and WTF who would have thought? how can the crows go from playing four quarters of footy beating collingwood to succumbing to an average side? i think they are now following in the roos footsteps...and i will give you one word for that...INCONSISTENT! sorry my crows friends but it is not looking rosy at the moment. i think your chances of making the eight have taken a huge blow but i'm not the only one who would think that. but of course i will refrain from becoming too smug because after not selling the port power raffle tickets last year i do not want footy karma to come back and bite me on the bum.
and to finish off i thought polec was sensational and continues to prove that he was more than a worthy pick up. love kane mitchell's tenacity on the ball and what a goal. however, goal of the match surely goes to the young chad of course. carlile has improved outta sight and i have to confess i often wondered what all the hoo ha was about. (previously even i believed i could run faster than him) well done team. keep going. keep the pressure on. every game is a test but the next huge one will come in the form of the swans away from home. i say we are more than a good chance to remain top four...premiership? perhaps we can pinch one this year...i say next year the window becomes fully open.

from the war zone...ready for the battlefield

OMG viewers i have been in a veritable war zone, indeedy i have and i am grateful to have friday free for recovery. but of course i will not alarm you and now that i am safe from the verbal insults i have endured it is time to talk about the battlefield. indeed tonights game will be the battle between the coaches. how interesting, brother against brother. it also makes me wonder how in tune they are with each other and how difficult it will be to coach against each other. can they read each others mind? will intuition play a role? are they really who they say they are? me i've put my money on the cats tonight. i am going with my kangaroo pattern formula...the week they win the next week they lose. they get my tag for being the most unpredictable side in the competition. so lets just see if i am right. i am also taking the advice of my ten year old which i am in almost complete agreement with. he picked the blues over the crows  (personally i would have gone the crows) but he insisted i listen to his tipping advice and so i have.
well this week i have finally got off my bum and brought you a guest tipster. introducing the lovely mrs wendy bateman a very passionate swans supporter. she was bragging on FB how she picked all the winners last week and so i suggested she give me her tips for round 10. mrs bateman and i have the cocos keeling islands in common. it is there where we met and i had the pleasure of teaching her daughter who is now grown up and so i am now reminded of how old i am getting, hee, hee. i also sang in her husbands band with my 4 signature songs...well someone had to sing!
so according to wendy round ten winners will be...ROOS, GWS, EAGLES, PORT, BULLDOGS and CROWS. in contrast according to the advice of my ten year old the round ten winners will be...CATS by 14, GWS, PIES, PORT, SUNS and CARLTON...ok a few of those are roughies but they could just put the icing on the cake.
BTW i also have some inside goss. i know where the POWER players have their feet looked after. i was going to photograph the shoe boxes to prove it but my teenage son started freaking out, (as teenagers do when they think their mothers are going to do something highly embarrassing). drats but on second thoughts perhaps not. it could be secret business for all i know and if i exposed them i am sure to get death threats or rotten tomatoes thrown at my house, or the family cat kidnapped or maybe even poor lovie, so i definitely can't have that...my lips are sealed!!! LOL.
so tonight it is time for couch viewing once again. and tomorrow it will be time to enter the battle zone ready for the top of the table clash. the pressure is on folks. yes the hawks have some players missing in action but the POWER won't be fooled by this or take the game lightly. the lady army will be there but sadly missing my little sista. she has gone to ireland and paris with her family but has demanded i text her during the game. looking forward as always to see the boys in action. (and don't worry guys your shoeboxes are in safe hands) over and out.
cheers,
FFFandF XXX

i should have listened to the advice of a ten year old!!!

damn, frigging footy tipping. why didn't i listen to the footy instincts of son number two? and how on earth am i going to add to my ever growing shoe collection if i can't rise to the top of the table and claim the RI indusrtries dosh? grumble, mumble, bumble...yes perhaps i am the bumbling fool. son number two told me pick the dees and freo but of course i wouldn't take heed of his sagely footy know how. bloody tigers pathetic, no disrespect to melbourne but bloody good on them to score another win and confidence; looks like the paul roo's investment is paying some dividends. i thought the passing of tom hafey would have been the ultimate inspiration but sadly not and how disappointing for the club and its supporters. can tell you hardwick look rather shattered and sorry folks but really they have buckleys chance of making the eight a unless a footy miracle occurs.   and of course i toyed with the idea of freo, knowing that it was to be the pav's 300th i did consider them but decided against it thinking that their form wasn't up to scratch. well pussycats you were a disgrace. you may as well have not even bothered showing up...lack lustre performance that crumbled under the relentless freo pressure. and just as well for that coz i don't think i could take a meltdown from son number two as i was feeling a bit precious viewers. sometimes that is just the way it is, female stuff but enough said. and well what about the pies too? another pathetic performance not disregarding the crows because they did play four quarters but seriously WTF was that about? first i had them slipping out of the eight and then i was thinking wow they could be top four contenders. now based on that performance they can be relegated to the last two spots...
so with a bye and a rest already there is talk we will be playing a second rate hawks side but i am not buying that folks. the pressure is on to win and to win comfortably considering key players will be missing in action. i will be curious to see what ken and the coaching staff do to answer that. will lobbe play? surely he has to? will a few get a rest and some their second chance to shine? maybe one but i would hardly think they would make too many large scale changes. BTW i forgot to mention the swans. what a peformance that was and have to admit they could be rather formidable. and suns well of course they are on the improve and will make it difficult for the last few spots to be a certainty. we are almost half way through the season viewers time is flying by but i will stick by my belief that come finals time it will be a different story. just hope your team gets the double chance and PORT cement a top four finish with a finals home advantage, now that would be ideal...over and out. cheers...FFFandF XXX
PS and really i should not forget to mention the PAV...300 games, super impressive career and of course he is a shining example of loyalty in a football world that can be so fickle. congratulations herman!!!

tip tip tipping...

dare i say it...CARN the CROWS!!! well perhaps half heartedly. but still i have tipped collingwood by 27, maybe i should have made it 37...mm, we shall wait and see. my other tips for this round include, SWANS, TIGERS, ROOS, CATS ( much to son number two's disgust) and SUNS. it is pavlich's 300th which will be huge  and maybe i'm wrong but i still think the CATS are in better form, although it could be different at home. look forward to watching the match on tv after all it is long weekend time!!! plus it is official the lady army are definitely going to melborne, YEE HAH!!!

Hidalgo Ending Race-Whit Return To Snowy River Music...INSPIRATION

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY...POWERful MUMMA'S

oh what a great mumma's day pressie. awesome effort POWER, knew it was gonna be a hard slog but was confident along with my esteemed friend nicole that they would bring out the afterburners in the last quarter. that was the consensus as we sat together discussing the game and cheering like the maniacs that we are. god i love the lady army plus others...we are a tight unit just like our team and we have only just begun!!!
must admit freo made us look small in comparison. i know we are no shorties either but they seem to cetainly have an abundance of height which was obvious as we were getting outmarked in the contests. strong overhead and strong bodied but we kept up with them at their own game. i have to admit i personally am no fan of the defensive game, free flowing is where it's at viewers. i also have to confess i wasn't surprised when lobbe was withdrawn as they were hinting at that. regardless very few are gonna get close to sandilands. i have nick named him the monument of the AFL, hee, hee. but still folks that move in the last quarter was not only bold but bloody ingenious. that is what i call respecting your oppositions strengths and making a plan. and what a grand plan that was because it was the turbo boost we needed to break through and stamp our playing style back onto the field.
and i wonder how many of you were feeling a tad nervous knowing our number one ruckman was out of the contest? for all the perceived holes i think the ruck and full forward is where we need to have some handy reinforcements and back up players. shulzy was ganged up on all day but hey the old rule goes when you are too busy tagging and worrying about one, someone else is gonna sneak by the wayside and come to the fore. and of course we all know who that was, don't we? young, talented, left footed and taking what was undeniably the mark of the match, wingard capped off his fiftieth with superb effort, well done young gun.
and also well done to the lady army plus others that continues to grow in numbers and passion. we were the screaming dozen...(well make that eleven) because son number two was showing his dual colours. by the end of the game i think his true allegiance resurfaced. poor love was devastated by the loss and certainly milked it for all it was worth. and of course a mumma has to do what a mumma has to do, comfort and console her offspring. bad luck son just as your dad texted me you were outrun in the last quarter, he said the signs were there and he was right. and me? i will always have a soft spot for freo considering i spent ten years living there but don't worry viewers there is absolutely no doubt where my true allegiance lies...
Happy Mumma's Day!!!

rain rain go away!!!!!!!!

well it was gonna happen sooner or later, thanks weather, all i ask is that you can be cold but keep the rain to yourself, (well at least until the game is over). so far we have been rather blessed by the weather gods. in fact a couple of those games were rather on the warm side. me? well i will be there tomorrow along with the trusty lady army plus others!!! yes indeed we have a core group of us that formed last year and moi well i am sole recruitment officer and captainess in charge viewers.
so if you wanna get on board then you are going to have to pass your footy license. and what does that exactly entail? well i havent figured that one out yet but for starters you had better know the songs and be able to identify all players by name just by looking at their numbers. mm, what else helps? well i cant exactly reveal our secret business but we have a few of us responsible for... lets say food and entertainment, hee,hee...god we just love it. soon we will be displaying our own banner which is still in the design stages. and lastly one more thing...you gotta be a whole lotta fun and of course it helps if you have a loud voice.
well now to round eight, the round where some teams will enjoy some time off to regroup, to rethink, to realise how crap they are, lol. for this round i have tipped the HAWKS with a margin of 39 points, PORT, will see if DEMONS can make it two in a row, CARLTON, BOMBERS and WEST COAST, although i think that perhaps GWS will test them.
so what to do on a cold and rainy day folks? well i shouldn't brag but i am the recipient of an ongoing long weekend, thanks to the way in which my work schedule was created, hee,hee...of course being entitled to long weekends means that i have the freedom to travel for the footy if i so desire. and talking about that, the lady army plus others has a very exciting trip planned. but more about that later...it will be covered in the blog. so far today i have already made pumpkin soup for my boys, i have a slow cooked beef curry on the go. i was going to try hot yoga but ran out of time fart assing around, maybe next week. i am currently toasty at home thanks to gas heating. so i will leave it at that viewers but before i go a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to BENNO, a supporter of the lady army plus others (also one of our occassional members) and married to one of our esteemed army ladies. so that's it for today folks. keep warm and remember the weather wont be kind to your frizzura tomorrow so you better keep your hat on!!!
Love, FFFandF XXX.

round seven done and dusted...

perhaps i should have listened to my gut instinct. man the kangaroos have got to be one of the most frustrating teams as far as tipping goes. my advice perhaps we are all better off just picking them fortnightly because that seems to be the pattern. i did seriously consider the suns and that certainly would have been a handy tip to have to inch just that little bit closer. but who would have picked the demons? seriously WTF was that performance all about? ( i did watch it) sell out crowd, home advantage. it just goes to show one cannot pencil in wins and get ahead of themselves. simply out coached. and yes of course being a PORT supporter i could jump on my high horse but i won't. but still, hee,hee  i'll just add, just suck it up CROWS supporters, especially the ones who keep banging on about the past. one kick away from the grandfinal which was a soft draw and beginners luck for sando. BTW i have some very good friends who happen to be very passionate CROWS supporters so that doesn't apply to you. capiche?
i didn't get to watch friday nights game viewers because i was out and about socialising and enjoying some very good home cooked greek fare. have to say if you have a hearty appetite then the taverna pistaria on hawker street is the place to be. you can also easily share your meals, 2 plates for three is by far ample enough. i think i will take my boys there. i ordered the quail and my companion ordered the lamb. both came served on a large enough plate filled with greek homestyle fried potatoes, tzatziki, very, very yum pita bread. enough in fact that i had to bring mine home, could just not eat it all. delicious food but if i have to be critical, that front door opening and closing and the noise which is the outcome of its design are the improvements that need to be made, also add speed up the service just a tad.
so back to the footy. i have to confess i watched the game while on the go cleaning and doing things around the house. no disrespect to GWS but maybe it was just my nerves. when they came within 20 points i wasn't worried. basically they did what they had to do in bleak, cold conditions, small crowd but hey it was great to see the inclusion of stewart and for newton to make his debut. and of course gus returning, hip, hip hooray!!! left with a win but not a big enough margin to keep the top spot. but who cares? i am more than happy to stay within the top four and after the hawks humiliating thrashing of the saints well they are the real deal. the pies have come into form, the suns are now showing some promise, freo still are nowhere near to their best and the roos well that's the team you don't want to have in the finals. throw in geelong at their best and it could be cats vs hawks come the end of the year. however, my fantasy would be for the cats to tip the hawks out of the GF and we play them in a re-match where our team is completely in sync and we win of course!!! yes that would be the ultimate GF for me this year. a bone crunching, thrilling game where the cats jumpstart to a great lead and look as though they will smash us. there is commentary reminiscent of 2007 but then of course we dig deep, fire into action put the afterburners on in the last quarter and come back to snatch one of the most thrilling victiories of all time!!! WOO HOO...such an imagination i possess. so i will leave it there folks.
PS i hope you didn't follow the coin toss tipping method. moi? well a respectable 7 from 9 but i still need to do better if i am gonna see those bills in my purse come the end of the year.
PPS was saved from another meltdown although one was to be observed when the eagles hit the front. so on to next week where son number two intends to wear both team colours. my sister suggested to him that he support PORT at home but his response...i can't do that. and you know what? he can do whatever he likes because that is one of the bonds he shares with his dad which should always remain intact.
lots of laughter, FFFand F XXX...too bloody cold for me, thank goodness i have my new stylish hoodie for the footy!!!
new hoodie...YAY!!!

whose lucky number is seven???

do you have a lucky number viewers or maybe a few lucky numbers? i do...for some reason i consider numbers 11 and 29 as my lucky numbers, i also lean towards 15, 22 and 38. i just have a thing about 11 and numbers that add up to it. call me weird but i will take that as a compliment. besides my sister does the same thing with 7, must run in the family, hee, hee.
so here we are at round seven and from all accounts it looks reasonably predictable but then again i thought that about some of the others and look where that got me. two games which i am unsure about are the roos vs suns and eagles vs freo. for some time freo have had the edge but the way they are playing at the moment i am not sure. well at least i hope they give each other a good bashing and then they can come to the PORTRESS, (hee, hee) the following week which will be an interesting scenario for me at least anyway. as i have mentioned before, son number two is a dual supporter and intends to go to the game dressed in a bit of each. personally i dont know how that will go down but hey big deal, he has emotional connections to freo and i for one am certainly not going to make a fuss of it.
so for tips this week i have gone...PIES, HAWKS, ROOS, PORT, SYDNEY, CROWS, CATS, FREO and the BOMBERS.
for my guest tipster this week i shall revert to the old toss the coin method...heads for home team, tails for away team and according to this prediction the tips are...COLLINGWOOD, HAWKS, GWS, DEMONS, BULLDOGS, ROOS, CATS, FREO and BRISBANE...CHOOSE THESE AT YOUR PERIL, LOL!!!
over and out FFFandF XXX
