oh what a great mumma's day pressie. awesome effort POWER, knew it was gonna be a hard slog but was confident along with my esteemed friend nicole that they would bring out the afterburners in the last quarter. that was the consensus as we sat together discussing the game and cheering like the maniacs that we are. god i love the lady army plus others...we are a tight unit just like our team and we have only just begun!!!
must admit freo made us look small in comparison. i know we are no shorties either but they seem to cetainly have an abundance of height which was obvious as we were getting outmarked in the contests. strong overhead and strong bodied but we kept up with them at their own game. i have to admit i personally am no fan of the defensive game, free flowing is where it's at viewers. i also have to confess i wasn't surprised when lobbe was withdrawn as they were hinting at that. regardless very few are gonna get close to sandilands. i have nick named him the monument of the AFL, hee, hee. but still folks that move in the last quarter was not only bold but bloody ingenious. that is what i call respecting your oppositions strengths and making a plan. and what a grand plan that was because it was the turbo boost we needed to break through and stamp our playing style back onto the field.
and i wonder how many of you were feeling a tad nervous knowing our number one ruckman was out of the contest? for all the perceived holes i think the ruck and full forward is where we need to have some handy reinforcements and back up players. shulzy was ganged up on all day but hey the old rule goes when you are too busy tagging and worrying about one, someone else is gonna sneak by the wayside and come to the fore. and of course we all know who that was, don't we? young, talented, left footed and taking what was undeniably the mark of the match, wingard capped off his fiftieth with superb effort, well done young gun.
and also well done to the lady army plus others that continues to grow in numbers and passion. we were the screaming dozen...(well make that eleven) because son number two was showing his dual colours. by the end of the game i think his true allegiance resurfaced. poor love was devastated by the loss and certainly milked it for all it was worth. and of course a mumma has to do what a mumma has to do, comfort and console her offspring. bad luck son just as your dad texted me you were outrun in the last quarter, he said the signs were there and he was right. and me? i will always have a soft spot for freo considering i spent ten years living there but don't worry viewers there is absolutely no doubt where my true allegiance lies...
Happy Mumma's Day!!!
Love FFFandF XXX
