welcome to the PORTRESS...meow, yeow take that pussycats!!!!

YEOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

can't take credit for that one viewers...the PORTRESS, apparently that was created by none other than commentator, brownlow winning medalist (and might i add a bit of a man mountain), gerard healy. i did happen to get a glimpse of him a few weeks ago at adelaide oval and so yes indeed a tall man from my vantage point.
well what can one say? how many times can i relive and bask in that euphoric glow of such a  convincing and damn fine win. yes pussy cats we have finally filed back your claws and have taken yet another step toward ongoing football respectability and serious contention. i have to say that what i noticed most from the beginning of the top table clash was this... how our team embraced one another like brothers, arms linked, they stood united before a cats oppositon who perhaps thought they would psyche them out. well it didn't work and for those who are now surfing the waves of PORT'S determination and success i can tell you one thing. those young men are a TEAM and they are a team of CHARACTER. and i will say it again. ken hinkley nailed it precisely when he said he was about relationships. my first impression of him after the round one win at the MCG in melbourne last year instilled faith and conviction that things were going to take a turn for the better. i just knew he was going to be the right coach because viewers, positive, honest, authentic relationships form the core foundation for success and self belief...that is how you get the best out of your students. and when you do it creates happiness and that happiness is the fuel that you want to have in your tank.
being at the game with lady army plus others in tow we collectively formed a group of nine arriving before three; any later and we would have been struggling to sit together.lovie ( my mum) sits at one end and i at the other coz she finds my voice too deafening. amongst our group were two newcomers who didn't regret being there for a second. i have no doubt they will be joining us again. in fact we already are discussing the merits of a lady army interstate trip complete with shopping, footy, food and flirting ( well for some of us...hee,hee)
personally i tipped PORT. before the game i had a few texts from a fellow friend and CATS supporter who just happens to live in port lincoln and who just happens to share my enthusiasm and passion for the game. he asked if i was going? for goodness sakes??? by now he should know better. his tip CATS by eight. my cheeky response...an image of a cat being electrocuted by lightning, hee, hee. i found that via someone else who posted it on FB and found it rather amusing. but of course if it hadn't worked out that way i guess he would have taken the piss at my expense.still i didn't hear a peep from him but from his gorgeous wife instead who happens to be one of my lincoln besties.
it was a tough first quarter, tight, attacking footy with geelong looking as though they might get off to a fast start. wasted opportunities saw PORT stick to those pussies and grab a two point lead before a quick snap on the siren...damn that! however, most of us were getting into the game and were responsible for that deafening noise, 47,000 plus, awesome effort fellow footy enthusiasts. before the second half of quarter number two the tide began to turn and PORT kicked into gear and from that point on took control of the game. son number two was convinced the game was in the bag at half time but me it aint over till the final siren sounds...and hey it couldn't be heard. how is that for crowd passion? a great game to watch albeit with some errors and a few clangers. i won't mention names but one player can frustrate me when he tries to take the game on but he is young, quick and well we will leave mr clanger at that. in the scheme of things the team just keep going on. if someone is having a quiet game then the others seem to pick it up. if some of you think PORT are good now all i can say is that we haven't yet seen them at their best. now that is what the opposing teams may come to fear because the game that everyone truly comes into sync is gonna be smashsville...seriously the best is yet to come, imagine it...wolfman i mean westhoff, schulzy, wingard, white, ollie, monfries, ebert, boaky, every single one of them on fire at the same time, it will be an incineration!!! hee, hee.
so final siren we are ecstatic and venture up to the magarey room to listen to ken, kane and broadbent. little sister, longtime friend and i meander home as the others have been collected via dial a dazzle taxi service. we catch the free train with a big smile on our faces and discuss politics on the way home. who said POWER supporters were feral??? i hardly think so.
PS yes i know there were other games on, the PIES were impressive again, some other pretty lack lustre games. glad to see LIONS get a win on the board. and of course did the CROWS win??? lol...i did tip them.
PPS why does footy classified have to be on so late???

FRIGGIN FREO...HOW DARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when you are winning...
listen here freo i am not happy. i am one unhappy mamma. how very dare you play so rubbish, ruin my tips and traumatise my poor darling angelic youngest son. yes indeed i had worked hard to brainwash him into becoming a total PORT supporter. all was well, until about two years ago when he decided in honour of his dad he would become a dual supporter.
i don't think you have any idea how bloody stressful it was for me to watch with son number two ( both of us being very passionate footy fans) as you long bombed those kicks, fumbled and succumbed to the pressure of the roos (who are not to be underestimated BTW). well all i can say was that it was bloody painful and not to mention heartbreaking. one poor ten year old supporter who incidentally gets his guernsey, hat and scarf on and sits on the couch to hopefully see his team be super awesome and win. the tears, the heartache, the inconsolable sobbing.
as harsh as it sounds you are certainly not as formidable as last year. at the rate you are playing i cannot see you as a top four contender. and yes the season has only just begun so i hope you prove my boy wrong. but the reality is the competition is begining to catch up and the gap narrows. incidentally we are well familair with freo having lived there for ten years only to return to adelaide in 2010. so consider yourselves privileged that i have you as my second team...sorry but PORT comes first. but my boy seems to love both teams equally and maybe you might just be slightly ahead. so PLEASE pull your finger out and get back to the formidable FREO of last year so that i can at least watch the footy in peace.
signed FFFandF...not happy FREO
PS i even allowed him to eat my sisters homemade anzac biscuits for breakfast this morning because i felt sorry for him. and of course he took full advantage of that.
PPS BTW his favourite player is nathan fyfe
PPPS we will be at the Port/Freo game and he will be torn...i think you should say sorry to him

Just goes to show it ain't over till the fat football is kicked... still time but for the sake of tipping gotta go for those damn pies!!!

POWER training...Alberton oval, 22/4/14

lovie takes a nosedive...what the hell is going on tipsters???

well, well, well poor lovie took a big nosedive in tipping viewers. she certainly regrets changing her geelong tip but for those of you who took her inside info good onya! however, i doubt she is the only one. my tips were pretty crapola this round managing a measly 4 thanks to the bombers, carlton, pies and freo. fortunately for me i didn't have to watch the freo/sydney game with son number two. he was watching it with his dad who happened to be visiting for easter. and yes he has had the pleasure of son number two's meltdowns before, the 2013 grandfinal being the biggie. and what a great feeling to be liberated, knowing you don't have to hate someone's guts anymore, hee,hee...not sure i can say that for some of the opposition though, LOL!
round five opener was a lack lustre game that i didn't even bother viewing.i watched the freo game and expected a lot better from the boys from the west. i am beginning to wonder that perhaps they will not be the force teams had to reckon with last year. of course i watched the PORT/EAGLES game while icing a wedding cake and luckily for the bride i didn't smash it to kingdom come with my passionate outbursts. i happened to be at my sisters  (helping her with the wedding cake and fobbing off lovie's creative attempts at telling me how to decorate such cake).  we all happened to be carrying on like pork chops in the back room sending the dog into a frenzy of barking. and yes the next door neighbours did mention they were worried the house was being broken into but big ivan said NUH...just those women watching the footy!!! but it certainly was a great game to watch and of course running out winners the best.
and so to next week which is gonna be huge and of course i have to admit the pussycats are the kings of the football jungle at this present moment. this is going to be an enormous test and i can well imagine it is going to be a big crowd. ( we will be there) and someone is going to have to nullify hawkins but he isn't the only danger player lurking in the geelong side...stevie j, stokes, bartel and the list could go on. there is no doubt they are a quality side and PORT are going to need more than leg speed to take away one of the cats nine lives. having ken as coach is obviously a big tick because he knows the cats pretty well. i am sure he is up to the challenge viewers and i am keen to see the match ups this week.
well what else can i say? the crows won...yeah big deal, hee, hee. collingwood are looming as a finals contender and have certainly come back into form. the kangaroos frustrate me. they blow hot and cold and really have continued to live up to their reputuation of being inconsistent. personally i would like to see them out of the eight by the time the season gets down to core business. so after round five, i will stick with the ladder as is and add that essendon, swans and crows are the most likely to change the configuration of the final eight come end of september.
and to all potential POWER brides out there if you want a POWER wedding cake little sista and i can do that for you, LOL. off to open training day viewers, have a pleasant day.

damn i forgot the tipping but better late than never!!!

last week big ivan pipped me at the post which was slightly disastrous for me coz we were even up until the this round. for my tips this round i have gone TIGERS by 33, ROOS, FREO, PORT, BOMBERS, DOGGIES, ADELAIDE, SUNS and HAWKS.
that's all folks...GO THE MIGHTY POWER!!! and i have decided i need to do some themes for my blogs when i am at the footy and take my fancy camera. perhaps my first one can be dob in a frizzura, hee,hee...well i thought it was funny.
over and out FFFandF.
PS my deepest apologies viewers but i just discovered today that Lovie has actually tipped the hawks...i did inform her that i gave you some inside info and shame on her, lol.
my guest tipster this week of course sticking to the family theme is none other than my gorgeous and talented little sister, sorry boys she is married but moi on the other hand is single, hee, hee. she is another diehard, passionate PORT supporter and esteemed member of the lady army plus others. Her tips for round five...TIGERS, ROOS, PORT, FREO, BOMBERS,HAWKS,CROWS,SUNS and the BULLDOGS, so it looks like great minds think alike. unfortunately Lovie has gone eagles which is sacrilege but she is strategic and has her eye firmly placed on the leader board and of course she is still in first place. GO LOVIE!!!

mm, my team was on fire but my tips fizzled out...double drats!!!

well talk about being on fire...scorching, merciless, the lions were not only declawed but from that thumping definitely desexed...meow. and yes what about my tips viewers? i know i made a promise to try really hard this season but i am experiencing a few bumps on the footy tipping highway. and if i continue at this rate it will be exit to losersville, hee, hee, still it is all in the fun. but mm, that cash would sure come in handy to add to my shoe collection, yes indeed!!! gotta hand it to lovie though she is full steam ahead. my mum just seems to have the footy nous and just quietly folks i can tell you she has already confided in me that she is tipping geelong this week, do what you will with that information...
and now back to round four. i told you all hell would break loose if carlton lost and they did. good on the demons, just a little ray of sunshine on what has been a gloomy start to their season. and of course the crows that would be bloody right. just when i thought they were vulnerable and certainly not a threat to the saints they pull that one outta the bag. and of course you will never hear the end of it, no apologies to my crow supporting friends. but seriously big deal you would have thought there was another royal baby on the horizon with all the hoo ha about that particular victory. so OK i will stop before i get a mailbag from disgruntled supporters who think i am a crows basher, hee, hee, LOL x 100!
and so now to the game. what a glorious day it was. and of course it was lovie's first game for the season. we had the pleasure of travelling in dial a dazzle taxi service who bless him did two trips. (and he happens to be a crows supporter) we are none other than the lady army plus others...the others being anyone who cares to join us and be game enough to have their eardrums blown to kingdom come. the first quarter was a little slow but once they settled into a rythm it was game on. the pre-match entertainment another marketing goal. loved the skydivers coming in and hovering above us before they descended and landed, the last one carrying the premiership cup. and by this stage the lions were probably thinking that it was all a bit too much...yeah we won the flag but lets be realistic viewers that was ten years ago for goodness sake. but i guess where there is marketing gold to be found you cannot blame a club for exploting it. such is the way of the world these days. if you don't someone else will.
and so on a glorious day the POWER struck some  mighty blows to render the lions defenceless, powerless and with no roar to be heard.embarrassing and painful if you are a lions supporter. but they are gonna have to suck it up just as we have done. sam gray's debut could have been no better. however, something tells me that perhaps someone fudge the height statistics coz he certainly doesn't look all of 176cm, that is just barely taller than me... but who really cares when height plays no part in courage and determination. a job well done guys and a great way for the lady army to spend the afternoon, our absent members you were with us in spirit, just to let you know. enjoy hong kong kazza and get well feralina xx.
so five measly tips folks i now confess, lame effort on my part. bombers got blown off the oval, bloody GWS let me down. perhaps it is time to pay better attention to the doggies who seem to be flying under the radar. but come to think of it they finished off last season rather well. and the demons who would have picked them? well my friend susie did as her roughy so that is definitely a handy tip to have. and to finish off such a perfect afternoon little sister and i managed to get in to see micheal franti at the gov. awesome as always, great music and perfect for busting a few dance moves. so until next time, stay groovy folks and dance like no-one is watching...OK perhaps not for some of you!
love FFFandF XXX.
ps i failed to mention how grateful i am for freo crushing the dons, detonating them, because it does make my life a whole lot easier where son number two is concerned. besides i gotta keep my freo fans happy don't i mrs bache?

Friday, April 11, 2014

Mm...time for tips.

well i gotta say lovie ( my mum) happens to be going great guns in the footy tipping as usual. something tells me i should be conferring with her this week. she is in the lead and i am currently in fourth place among others and well not up there in the port one...never mind i will still keep going.
so now to round four and there is gonna be some heat on a few teams. if carlton loses to the demons all hell will break loose and if the crows cannot summon a win then it will be another blasting in the paper. personally i am not sure. something tells me the crows are rather vulnerable and if alan richardson is as good as some people say he is then perhaps he will coach sanderson out of the game. i am still deciding but leaning now towards the saints...yes have done it picked the saints, so now lets see what happens.
have looked at the ins and outs and something tells me with an inform side like essendon that they are capabale of detonating freo who are lacking a few of their stand up players...so yes i tipped the bombers. son number two has already done the groundwork. he is not confident and so perhaps this time if there is to be another loss then he will cop it sweet.
so my tips this week viewers which incidentally raised an eyebrow from my brother in law who also happens to be in the same comp as me...after all it is his work one. we are both level with the same score but something tells me that after this week it is going to change. so i will re
quest the eyebrow raiser be my guest tipster this week. considering he is a nartural born irishman he has taken to the game with gusto and really had no choice but to follow the power...well especially if he wanted to remain married to my sister, lol.
so for the big irishman this week he has gone with PIES, BLUES, PORT, GWS, HAWKS, CATS, SWANS, CROWS and FREO. for me i am going with my footy intution, lol, same with the exception of SAINTS,ROOS and BOMBERS.
just finished watching friday night footy. i tipped the pies by 23 but 38 tonight. TIGERS are over rated and have now been given a reality check...two tough games coming up, not looking good. and for my team i have ensured a favorable result by doing my good deed for the week and assisting a complete stranger...surely footy gods that has to count for something, hee, hee.
goodnight, love FFFand F XXX

PS i was at the airport today viewers collecting son number one who incidentally did not call me once...(not that happy jan) well i had my opportunity to wreak havoc. i could have kicked a few kneecaps, hee, hee, just kidding...GO THE POWER!!!

the bogey side strikes again....WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the weekend did not get off to a good start viewers. friday nights match i was somewhat dreading and then of course i forgot to change one of my tips...damn it would have counted but still am in the running in the other comp. ( and perhaps i should just copy lovie's tips coz she is leading of course, lovie you bloody legend!)
of course i had been planting the seeds ever so gently. i backed hawthorn after considering freo's outs but certainly did not expect that thumping. poor son number two bless him, was completely traumatised. decked out in all his freo gear he hit the peak of meltdown mode when he thought they would lose by 100 points. seriously folks freo were rubbish but hawthorn were deadly. they showed no mercy and were still missing standout players. OMG right now i wouldn't want to be playing the hawks and right now they almost seem a certainty to achieve back to back flags.in the end i had to wrap him up in my spotted dressing gown and comfort him on the couch. my poor baby was so frustrated with how bad his team were going. the hawks were just too good. and by the time morning had come he had informed me he wouldn't cry next time. and my response was he can cry as much as he wants, nothing wrong with expressing frustration, anger and sadness. and if any freo players are reading this, shame on you, (yeah make that double srum te bilo) and thank goodness you didn't perform as badly as that in last years grandfinal otherwise you would have been completely smashed.
no fun when your team gets smashed but hey folks you gotta take the good with the bad and not too long ago there was a lot of bad i had to take. thank the footy gods that they have bestowed a new hunger and enthusiasm at PORT...but honestly little of that went missing last night.
so the crows ruined my tipping. what a complete dismal performance and embarrassment for their first home game. listening to the accounts on radio there are quite a few disgruntled fans. but hey how easy it is to sink the boot in when your team is crap. ( but i certainly wouldn't want to be three and zip) KG keeps going on about sexy footy well i can tell you PORT have the six sexy's going on...team, marketing, coaching, fitness, passion and fans. seriously was there a crow flying onto the oval on saturday? is that true or is someone just making that up? and painting the 19th man on the intercontinental...arrogance and a laughing point which just makes the Crows look foolish when they suffer a humiliating defeat. just saying and if you don't like that just go and read what chris mcdermott has to say or that headline, "slow stagnant crows sink and stink," OUCH! but when the shoe is on the other foot our team name also opens itself up to ridicule when we suffer a humiliating defeat...fortunately we are no longer that team.
well i was fairly confident the bogey side was going to be put to rest. after a quick start with 3 unanswered goals it was looking pretty good but alas that was not to last. gotta hand it to the roos they are simply one team that you never know which side is going to show up. yes they outplayed us in the last and seemed to have no trouble keeping up but until their efforts become consistent they are not top four yet. from where i stand i say that PORT are capable of being in the top six at this stage. indeed top four would be ideal but still far too early to give that call. i am a realist. the season is long and we have already seen teams succumb to injuries and we are no exception. losing monfries was a big blow and although ken won't use injuries as an excuse he still would have made a big difference. so now it is time for someone else to stand up. butcher, well i am not entirely convinced by him. on the other hand having another big bodied forward does strike a good balance in the forward line which gives wolfman ample opportunity to run up and down the field. although i have to admit my sister and i put our hands over our eyes when butcher is about to kick. he does do some good things like handballing off efficiently and trying to make a contest of the ball. so perhaps the coaching panel still see what some of us don't at the moment. the same could have been said of westhoff in the beginning and what a valuable player he has developed into. i guess sometimes patience and persistence pays off.
so to put it in a nutshell north were more desperate for the win, they had the momentum when it counted and won the clearances. other than that you would have thought that it was PORT'S game but sadly no. but hey i am OK with that. the young guns need to experience being put under pressure more often if they are to refine and develop their game and become a consistent threat. i say it is time to ease the foot off the accelerator of expectation. let us not forget that two years ago we were a soft target. getting ahead of oneself can lead to disappointment if one is not careful. it is time for everyone to stop living in the past whoever you are and whichever team you support. it is one game at a time folks, to pencil in wins is now a mistake in my books. there are teams who can still come at you and the way that a few teams are travelling at the moment they won't be feared by some of the others below them. vulnerability is opportunity for exploitation and another loss is a  blade which can shred confidence into non-existence. for my 20 cents worth the in form sides are hawthorn and essendon. so freo you had better watch out coz i reckon the bombers just might have the artillery to blow the wind out of your sails. wishing monfries a speedy recovery and nominating paul stewart for inclusion. and if you are still despondent after a loss cheer up folks, chocolate does wonders but maybe not for the waistline....hee,hee,hee. until next time stay groovy viewers...

it comes in threes...well so the saying goes

hello viewers...dare i be bold? ha... they say things come in threes so a third win against the roos our bogey side is the answer. how easy it could be to become caught up in the hype? there is talk already about PORT being a top four side, yes if we took these first two games it is not difficult to agree. but hold onto your horses folks there is a long way to go. and yes moi will always subscribe to the fact come finals it is a different ball game. so much to like and so much to be optimistic about but what impresses me the most is the positive culture, the camaraderie that appears to have infected the players. how great to be in a team where everyone is valued and respected. indeed it is not about winning but of course we will not say no to that. it is about becoming, becoming something positive, exciting, authentic and fun. yes fun folks. let us not get too serious, there still has to be some fun in footy as far as i am concerned. and i hope that is part of what you get when you read my blog that i began last year to express my thoughts and passion and to also instill some writing discipline. OK that does it for my introduction.
some big games this week. tonight we kick off with the grandfinal replay. i initially tipped FREO but after discovering their outs have changed my mind and have given tipping honours to the HAWKS by 16. why? MCG. why? i think they will rise to the challenge. but of course son number two will be in his full FREO regalia.( while i lounge around in my tracksuit and uggies) i have been attempting to sow the seeds. i have been attempting to create a buffer zone should FREO lose. and let me tell you folks watching the game with a very, very passionate ten year old who incidentally is a dual supporter can be tough. i thought i had it tough in the classroom but tonight is gonna be a doubly difficult assignment. ( bring on the holidays) secretly i have to confess i need hawthorn to win for my tipping...naughty mama!!! lol..hee,hee.hee..
and then there is the CROWS... and yes i shouldn't gloat but i did wear my t-shirt to school. and there were two staff members who seriously were not happy. big, big game for both sides. whoever loses will be three and zip which is not the way you want to start the season. i have tipped adelaide. if they can't rise to the challenge and be carried along by the tide of their supporters well then some serious questions will be asked. and yes they will suffer at the hands of the media who will start to sink the boot. but such is the fickleness of footy.
so viewers my tips for this week ( oops i forgot to line up a guest tipster...well actually it can be lovie...a quick phone call will take care of that) my guest tipster, make that emergency one shall be bestowed upon lovie. poor lovie missed out on last weeks game, bad hip, feeling overwhelmed, afraid i would be too loud and burst someones eardrums...blah, blah, blah. lovie loves PORT. her favourite player although not in the side at the moment is Jake Neade. she has tipped HAWKS by 19, RICHMOND, SYDNEY, SUNS, CATS, EAGLES, PORT, GWS and ESSENDON.
i have tipped the same but have gone adelaide instead of sydney due to the new oval being the deciding factor. so until the post game wrap, have a great weekend viewers, may your team shine but be blinded by the brilliance of the POWER!!! hee, hee.

IT'S SHOWDOWN TIME!!!

nana and dolly...
i had a slight dilemma viewers...to go to the footy dressed up in my nana mouskouri costume or perhaps maybe wear the tracky dacks and ugg boots, my from the couch threads?mm, how many of you had other functions to attend? and why didn't anyone check the calendar before they decided to get married, have a birthday, christening or celebrate kate and wills wedding anniversary? yes we had a 40th to attend but little sis and i going to the footy as nana mouskouri and dolly parton (well it would have been funny) but not funny sweltering in the heat so no...
finally the big day had arrived and i kicked it off with an early morning basketball match, 8am to be precise...OUCH but not moi, son number two was playing and then after that it was full swing to get organised and ready. lovie pulled the plug and so it was left to find a suitable replacement.imagine that a spare ticket to the SHOWDOWN... were we for real?...yes and the lucky recipient was none other than a fellow member of the lady army who had been too slack to organise her membership. lovie's hip was playing up and she was feeling somewhat overwhelmed which i can understand. i have another friend who relinquishes her membership for showdowns because she finds it too stressful. so back to organization...chicken,salad on turkish bread, check, leftover birthday cake, check, organic juices, check, two organic apples, check, 1 bag of natural confectionary lollies, check, one bag of popcoprn, check, one bottle of water, check and one nudie smoothie, check. nothing like being organized. sorry folks but i ain't lining up in long queues or paying for food that is overpriced and not a regualr staple in my pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.
now the plan to get there. brother in law taxi, check, friend coming to pick us up...30 mins behind schedule, tut, tut! my brother in law dropped us off at the back entrance, well almost. ( and i have to admit driving to the game i began to feel that nervous excitement) we just had to walk across the park and gain entry via the members entrance at the northern end. smart move coz then we were right where we were supposed to be...the western stand. two rows from the fence line, son number two and i looked after seats while the stadium pretty much began to fill up after 2:30 pm. i was happy with our view. we love to be up and close where the action is. unfortunately we had 6 crows supporters in front of us. they were not happy with our passionate and loud cheering but hey tough, suck it up big time i say and if you are foolish enough to sit with PORT supporters well then face the music. and seriously leaving before the game finished? what a complete disgrace and lack of resilience, that viewers is a no,no in my books, gotta take the good with the bad.
so what can i say folks? the first quarter was blistering. to think loebe would kick the first goal i wouldn't have picked him but one lucky radio listener is 5000 the better. is it an understatement to say i was feeling on top of the ladder? hee, hee. still throughout the game i was pretty composed but yes very, very loud and extremely proud. i have said this before and i will say it again. last year was just the beginning. this is a team viewers and what an exciting team they are to watch and i just love their brand of footy and respect for their supporters. i won't carry on with the stats, i will leave that to the expertise of son number two who is best friends with the AFL app on my iphone. gotta say though it does come in handy and apart from that lapse in the third PORT were the dominant side all day. tackling, running hard and some awesome passages of play and handy goals. i felt all the team had put in and it makes me wonder now with the depth of the list how hard it is gonna be for some young guns to make the side.
for all the criticism of butcher's kicking style he does put in a 100 percent effort, that nifty handball...goal. his first set shot...yes people gasped in almost disbelief but that was the turning point in the third and what ignited a quick onslaught... 30 in front by three quarter time. and what about that last quarter? i have to admit it was just awesome being part of this historic day and seeing your team sink the boot in. and of course not forgetting being with the lady army plus one. and what do the crows have to crowplain about? nothing, some dodgy decisions but all up if one is to be subjective, outclassed, outrun by a tight unit who is hungrier for the ball and who plays for one another. yes it is easy viewers to hop on the PORT roadtrain but i haven't forgotten those harsh critics of our own who were willing to sink the boot in when we were at our worst. not me nor those i know who are passionate about the club. i joined when they were down and out and have witnessed the remarkable turn around that has come about simply because of a few things like...EFFORT, SELF BELIEF and CULTURE. the team have bought into it because they know it is a great investment and from the membership numbers now it is clear the fans have to. bless you POWER and keep on keeping on.
PS we stayed at the stadium for another good hour, watched the team come out and do their warm down. we caught the train home, easy, convenient. and yes folks couldn't help myself as i had to announce...this is a happy train, take us to happy town!!! over and out.
Love FFFandF XXX.
PPS thanks POWER for the freebie t-shirt too...hee,hee...i wore it to school...cheeky i know but to enjoy a 55 point victory well one cannot help it!!!
the lady army plus one...
