the bogey side strikes again....WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the weekend did not get off to a good start viewers. friday nights match i was somewhat dreading and then of course i forgot to change one of my tips...damn it would have counted but still am in the running in the other comp. ( and perhaps i should just copy lovie's tips coz she is leading of course, lovie you bloody legend!)
of course i had been planting the seeds ever so gently. i backed hawthorn after considering freo's outs but certainly did not expect that thumping. poor son number two bless him, was completely traumatised. decked out in all his freo gear he hit the peak of meltdown mode when he thought they would lose by 100 points. seriously folks freo were rubbish but hawthorn were deadly. they showed no mercy and were still missing standout players. OMG right now i wouldn't want to be playing the hawks and right now they almost seem a certainty to achieve back to back flags.in the end i had to wrap him up in my spotted dressing gown and comfort him on the couch. my poor baby was so frustrated with how bad his team were going. the hawks were just too good. and by the time morning had come he had informed me he wouldn't cry next time. and my response was he can cry as much as he wants, nothing wrong with expressing frustration, anger and sadness. and if any freo players are reading this, shame on you, (yeah make that double srum te bilo) and thank goodness you didn't perform as badly as that in last years grandfinal otherwise you would have been completely smashed.
no fun when your team gets smashed but hey folks you gotta take the good with the bad and not too long ago there was a lot of bad i had to take. thank the footy gods that they have bestowed a new hunger and enthusiasm at PORT...but honestly little of that went missing last night.
so the crows ruined my tipping. what a complete dismal performance and embarrassment for their first home game. listening to the accounts on radio there are quite a few disgruntled fans. but hey how easy it is to sink the boot in when your team is crap. ( but i certainly wouldn't want to be three and zip) KG keeps going on about sexy footy well i can tell you PORT have the six sexy's going on...team, marketing, coaching, fitness, passion and fans. seriously was there a crow flying onto the oval on saturday? is that true or is someone just making that up? and painting the 19th man on the intercontinental...arrogance and a laughing point which just makes the Crows look foolish when they suffer a humiliating defeat. just saying and if you don't like that just go and read what chris mcdermott has to say or that headline, "slow stagnant crows sink and stink," OUCH! but when the shoe is on the other foot our team name also opens itself up to ridicule when we suffer a humiliating defeat...fortunately we are no longer that team.
well i was fairly confident the bogey side was going to be put to rest. after a quick start with 3 unanswered goals it was looking pretty good but alas that was not to last. gotta hand it to the roos they are simply one team that you never know which side is going to show up. yes they outplayed us in the last and seemed to have no trouble keeping up but until their efforts become consistent they are not top four yet. from where i stand i say that PORT are capable of being in the top six at this stage. indeed top four would be ideal but still far too early to give that call. i am a realist. the season is long and we have already seen teams succumb to injuries and we are no exception. losing monfries was a big blow and although ken won't use injuries as an excuse he still would have made a big difference. so now it is time for someone else to stand up. butcher, well i am not entirely convinced by him. on the other hand having another big bodied forward does strike a good balance in the forward line which gives wolfman ample opportunity to run up and down the field. although i have to admit my sister and i put our hands over our eyes when butcher is about to kick. he does do some good things like handballing off efficiently and trying to make a contest of the ball. so perhaps the coaching panel still see what some of us don't at the moment. the same could have been said of westhoff in the beginning and what a valuable player he has developed into. i guess sometimes patience and persistence pays off.
so to put it in a nutshell north were more desperate for the win, they had the momentum when it counted and won the clearances. other than that you would have thought that it was PORT'S game but sadly no. but hey i am OK with that. the young guns need to experience being put under pressure more often if they are to refine and develop their game and become a consistent threat. i say it is time to ease the foot off the accelerator of expectation. let us not forget that two years ago we were a soft target. getting ahead of oneself can lead to disappointment if one is not careful. it is time for everyone to stop living in the past whoever you are and whichever team you support. it is one game at a time folks, to pencil in wins is now a mistake in my books. there are teams who can still come at you and the way that a few teams are travelling at the moment they won't be feared by some of the others below them. vulnerability is opportunity for exploitation and another loss is a  blade which can shred confidence into non-existence. for my 20 cents worth the in form sides are hawthorn and essendon. so freo you had better watch out coz i reckon the bombers just might have the artillery to blow the wind out of your sails. wishing monfries a speedy recovery and nominating paul stewart for inclusion. and if you are still despondent after a loss cheer up folks, chocolate does wonders but maybe not for the waistline....hee,hee,hee. until next time stay groovy viewers...
